Shelter Pererenan features an island-inspired open architecture design using a Balinese-style ‘Joglo’, providing a relaxed atmosphere with a backdrop of exotic plants. Opened less than a year ago, Shelter Pererenan is a project of the Shelter Group, the one behind the famous Shelter Café in Seminyak. Offering a culinary journey inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, the restaurant partners with UK chef Stephen Moore, and upon opening was an immediate success.
British-born chef Stephen Moore has been around the world building his career in Michelin-starred restaurants, top-tier hotels and resorts like Aman Resorts, as well as exotic locales, including Barcelona, at El Raco de Can Fades, India, with 3 Michelin stars. and Sri Lankan.
He spent considerable time cooking for Australia’s most influential venues including Park Hyatt and Rockpool under iconic Chef Neil Perry, continuing with Icebergs in Bondi Beach before ending his mentor Ross Lusted with the opening of The Bridgeroom. as chef. Drawing on her ten years of experience, Moore now oversees the kitchen at Shelter Group.
Using artisan cooking methods in the wood oven and open charcoal grill, Moore serves simple yet elegant dishes.
Shareable entrees include the exciting mix of textures and flavors: whipped chickpeas with baked flatbread, served with lamb kofta and mint yogurt, seared ahi tuna with wood-roasted mushrooms, pickled apple and shimeji, and wood-roasted moon scallops. with chili, lemon butter and sumac.
Meanwhile, entrees dominated by shared-style grilled and wood-roasted dishes are about to satisfy your taste buds. Options are Chermoula crusted chicken, slow-cooked lamb shoulder pita topped with tabbouleh, wood-roasted duck thigh with harissa, dates and risoni, and a huge 500g grain-fed Black Angus ribeye with gravy hurricane.
