With Europeans comes great food and you’ll find restaurants serving everything from great pastas, Mediterranean dishes, great wines and great cocktails. There are also many villas in the area and some boutique-style hotels. Whether you’re staying in Umalas or just passing through, you’ll find great restaurants and cafes that are sure to put Umalas on the map for you.

Anwa Bistro

You can wake up to Bistro Anwa for breakfast from 7am and return later for drinks and snacks until 10pm. The menu is driven by local produce and the cocktails are made with quality ingredients. From the all-day brunch menu to sunset pizza and pasta on the rooftop terrace, there really is something for everyone. Friday night is Kids Night with movies and popcorn for the kids while the adults enjoy a drink and sunset dinner. They also have 6 flat screen TV’s making it a great place to catch a game. This contemporary restaurant is a staple of the Umalas area and we love the views over the rice fields and the cool breeze on the terrace.

You’ll get more than a great cup of coffee at this hot spot, you’ll get a complete coffee experience. Their coffee is grown without the use of chemicals or fertilizers, which means it’s better for you and the environment. Better yet, these guys have a core ethical focus on empowering women through agricultural trade. More recently, they have opened Bali Beans Cafe in Umalas, which is a sexy place to have breakfast. Uma Gardens

Uma Gardens has a no-nonsense indoor-outdoor vibe with candlelit tables set in an indoor garden with a dramatic arched ceiling. Not just a pretty face, the menu concept is impressive with the wood-fired dishes taking center stage. Although they serve a wide variety of steak, grilled chicken and rib dishes, a large portion of the dishes are vegetarian or vegan. We love Uma Gardens for both date night and group dining since the dishes are made for sharing and also for the super cool atmosphere.

White stone

Drop by Whitestone any time of the day for some seriously sensible dining! The menu offers a variety of Asian and Mediterranean inspired dishes as well as Western Comforts. The brunch is available until 3:00 pm and was inspired by classic Melbourne-style brunches and local produce from the island of Bali. At night you will find all kinds of international dishes that are perfectly accompanied by its surprising selection of classic cocktails or wines. They also have one of the largest gin selections on the island if that’s more your taste. The entire establishment is built around an indoor-outdoor concept. Both the bar and restaurant are pet friendly, gin and dog friendly. We are sold!

Regular cooling and feeding

Located just off the cutoff from Umalas and Berawa is one of our favorite little places, Habitual Quench and Feed. Don’t be fooled, this little American Cafe is known for big flavors with a menu packed with classic and craft burgers. Cowboy Big Mac, Double Cheese Burgers, Mushroom With Melted Provolone Cheese. Amazing sides and house sauces, all made in house. If good American burgers are what you’re looking for, this is the place for you!
